I love nitro cold brew coffee.

As I sit here in a coffee shop with my wife in Austin, TX, dreaming about 2018 and how we will tackle it, I’m flipping through a book that tells a story about Coach Vince Lombardi and the Green Bay Packers that I would like to share with you. Here’s the excerpt:

“In 1959, Vince Lombardi was hired to be the head football coach of the Green Bay Packers. He took the difficult task of turning around a losing franchise.

After a miserable game, the players gathered in the locker room in silence. They braced themselves for Lombardi to enter and erupt in a verbal assault.

After a few moments, Lombardi entered the room with a football in his hands. He stood in silence, searching for words. The players prepared for the worst.

He proceeded to explain the boundaries of a football field, the length of a goal line, and how moving the ball across the goal line scores six points. Lombardi brought a room full of pros back to the most basic elements of the game.”

– Brandon Hilgemann, Preach And Deliver

Lombardi, regarded as one of the greatest coaches of all time, took the Packers to win five championships in seven years with two Super Bowl championships while never having a losing season.

I tell you this as we step into this new year to say this: We must never lose our fundamentals of our Christian faith. Things such as:

  • Prayer
  • Reading the Word
  • Pursuing Community
  • Worshipping The Lord

I encourage you to dream bigger in 2018. Devise a plan like your destiny depends on it. However, in the midst of this, may we never lose sight of these fundamentals. Now go be a champion.

Blessings.  – TW
